Major Bill Simmons has taught at the Academy for 21 years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition to teaching Grade 12 English, Bill is the Academic Officer responsible for the application of Ministry of Education guidelines. When he is not being managed and organized by amazing assistant, Ms. Leoni, Bill guides the graduating class in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Bill also enjoys communicating with families to help them make informed decisions and responsible goals for their sons’ future success.
If Bill is not at the Academy discoursing on responsibility and accountability with your sons, he is probably ranting about responsibility and accountability with his own sons. He loves watching his son, Alex, play lacrosse for the Denver Pioneers, and arguing politics and sentence structure with his youngest son, Tytus, who studies Political Science at the University of Ottawa. If Bill is not chasing after his sons or yours, he is probably on a solo canoe trip in Algonquin Park or white water canoeing on remote rivers with his brother.
