Lieutenant Andrew Guy

RLA - Teachers

Andrew completed his BSc in Medical Biology and Exercise Science from Southern Arkansas University in 2005, going on to serve as a professional development facilitator on student engagement for newly hired teachers. He was awarded an academic scholarship and went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology and human performance in 2007. Andrew worked in conjunction with Professor of Kinesiology Dr. William Kist, PhD to complete advance studies in VO2MAX fitness research on triathletes published by the journal of American College of Sports Medicine.

While at Southern Arkansas University, he served as President of the International Students Association and enjoyed bringing together thousands of international students and families each year. Andrew earned the President of Year Award, student leadership merit of the year, and The Proclamation of Multicultural and Diversity Leadership, awarded by Mayor Horace G. Shipp. After completing his MSc, he taught for the Florida Department of Education, in Jacksonville, FL., where he received the Teacher of the Year award. Upon returning to Canada, Andrew served as a registered Kinesiologist, and clinical Sports Rehab Therapist. Today Andrew serves as a Health/Wellness instructor at RLA. When he’s not teaching Health and wellness education, Andrew spends his time with his family biking, gaming, and computing.
