Paul Zahra ASM

Upon returning to Canada Paul accepted a position at Robert Land Academy as a Staff Sergeant. After spending a number of years with the regiment while at the same time working at the Academy, he chose to focus all of his attention on his role at RLA.

Over his 30-year career at RLA Paul served in almost every position at the Academy. He stayed in the Staff Sergeant role for just three months before moving into stores.

When a staff member was on sick leave, Paul took command of B Company, continuing in that role for a number of years, where he was responsible for all of the recruits in B Company.  Paul was in charge of the corrective training squad (CTS) for one year and was the wrestling coach for 10 years. Paul, at times has held several jobs simultaneously, including as a CSM and Phys Ed teacher for grades 9 and 10 and continuing to hold a CSM position while being moved to a Company Commander.

In the late 1990’s Paul was asked to be the Academy Sergeant Major (ASM), a role he has held ever since.

Outside of the Academy, Paul is happily married with two adult children and enjoys numerous hobbies.  A level two boxing coach, a box on instructor and a referee with the St. Catharines boxing club and boxing Ontario Paul brings his passion for the manly art to the Academy where he runs the school’s boxing club.
